Every year, we Christians celebrate Palm Sunday a week before Easter Sunday
with palm branches to commemorate Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The palm branches are then blessed with holy water and taken home to be fastened in doors or windows or at the altar.
As written in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John,
people place palm branches in front of Jesus riding on a donkey on his way up to Jerusalem with people joining the celebration and singing part of the hymn "Blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord."
