There was no earthquake
that could have triggered the tsunami that struck parts of Indonesia on Saturday night leaving hundreds of people dead, hundreds injured, dozens missing and houses destroyed by the hundreds.
Indonesian authorities now say
that it was caused by an eruption on Anak Krakatau, a volcano situated in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra in the Indonesian province of Lampung. The eruption first caused an underwater landslide which then caused the displacement of seawater we call tsunami. People were totally unaware as tsunami was heading inland, like the video below. Popular band in Indonesia named "Seventeen" was performing on stage beside the beach and was swept away.
Rescue operations are still ongoing,
hoping to find survivors after the deadly tsunami.
