She was a financially successful woman with a very handsome man.
And she was madly in love with him and doing everything to keep him to the point of ignoring her family and friends.
With her high-paying job, she spent so much for the guy -
shopping sprees and fine dining were common and traveling together around and out of the country. But the guy was a hillbilly (probinsyano) of very humble family background. Both of his parents were farmers who depend on a small track of land for survival. He came to the city and finding job as a salesperson in the shoe department of a large popular mall and earning just the minimum salary. But the girl didn't seem to care at all. And she did it all for love.
This is the beginning of the story:
She was a clever businesswoman who was into construction and real estate making money here and there. She was a boss, a tough woman who earned her considerable wealth through years of relentless hard work and determination. And even though she had a lot of money, she was not the "hot girl" guys always looked for, with a chubby physique and a "not-pretty" face. She was unattractive that any normal guy would pass her by. But she was intelligent having finished high school and college with flying colors. She already had few boyfriends before who broke up with her because of her domineering and overbearing attitude. One night while going out with colleagues, she bumped into one of his classmates in high school who was now a supervisor in a mall. He was with a group of guys who were directly under him - salespeople in the mall's shoe department. One of the guys caught her attention immediately because of his good looks and his humble attitude. No sooner they were introduced to each other and there was an instant connection so the group decided to hang out in some bar around the city. All through the night the two became inseparable as they kept talking and knowing about each other. She became deeply attracted to him and felt he was the kind of guy she was looking for. The guy became interested with her because that was his first time to have a lengthy, wonderful conversation with a rich girl like her. He was so used to being surrounded by girls who were his level. So when the night was over, they exchanged numbers so that they could continue communicating. After few days of texting and calling, they dated alone without their friends' knowledge. They dined in a cozy restaurant, and had some drinks in a nearby bar. Because she already knew about his humble situation, she paid for everything - the food and the drinks and she didn't mind because she knew he was all worth it. When they went their separate ways, she kept thinking about him all through the night. And she felt she was already in love. She didn't care at all if she was not the "hot babe" to match the "hot guy" in him. As a clever boss, her intelligence is what she depended much and she thought she could do everything to keep him and make the relationship strong. So their dates became frequent and they became closer and closer than ever that they ended up in a hotel. After that first sex, she became more bound to him than ever. She could no longer live a day without him or couldn't bear not talking to him in a day.

Later on her friends found out.
They couldn't believe her dating the guy and they tried to talk her out of the relationship because he could hardly make ends meet with his meager salary and on the opposite, she was a highly successful businesswoman. They felt they don't match. But she ignored them all. She said she was already madly in love with him and felt sure the guy reciprocated all her love. There was nothing they could do but to support her decision. But as they say, nothing lasts forever especially when one is always giving and the other is not really giving back. It only seemed so. The guy who used to be sweet, thoughtful and all became bored or should I say, became uneasy and uncomfortable with how things were going for both of them. He felt like he was suffocated, and he couldn't decide for both because it was always hers that mattered. She always asked about his whereabouts, and time with his friends were completely cut off. She wanted his friends out of his life. Then one day, the guy decided to cool off so that he could think things through. He needed a personal space and time alone to reflect on the relationship that was becoming toxic as days and weeks passed by. But she wouldn't let him. She said she had already sacrificed everything for him and he had nowhere else to go. But he had the last word. He resigned from his work and went home to his parents who were living south of the city. The girl cried the whole day and wouldn't eat and drink a thing. Her friends came to comfort her and reminded her of their advice. She was not letting him go soon and would fight for the relationship no matter what it takes. She tried to contact him in any way possible but she couldn't. His phone number was changed and there was no way to reach him. She didn't even know his exact address in the province.
She waited until the wait lasted for months.
She didn't her about him again. His friends at the mall didn't even know what happened to him. Hopeless and in deep despair, she went on with her life, determined to never fall in love that way again, and swear to herself over and over not to welcome him back into her life again if he ever comes looking for her. She then realized she didn't deserve a hillbilly guy like him, that she deserves some rich guy and if possible, someone who was more intelligent, more successful and richer than her. With bruised pride and bloated ego, she cursed him to the skies! After a year, the guy came back to the city and reapplied to the same job he left a year before. He was welcomed back with open arms because he was diligent and hardworking, the kind of employee any company wanted. He was still as good-looking as ever and a little mature now but still a very attractive fit guy that he always was. Then one day, as if fate caused the elements to come together so that both the guy and the girl could bump into each other in an unexpected way. Funny how fate worked! Anyways, as he was leaving his work at the mall, he crossed the street to eat at the small restaurant just beside the busy intersection. He had no idea that the girl was also in the vicinity trying to purchase something from a convenience store beside the restaurant. Her BMW was parked right outside. When she went out, she saw him there eating alone, his eyes were focused on the road. But the guy never noticed her. She was surprised to find him there, and she didn't know what to do. She instantly felt the hatred, and she felt like confronting him right there and then. But she preferred to just let it pass as if she never saw him at all. She went in her car and drove right away without ever looking back.
When she reached home,
she went to her room immediately and cried as hard as she could, trying to relieve herself of her ill feelings toward the guy who hurt her the most. And then she realized something - she missed him. His charming eyes, his humble attitude and his good looks altogether seemed to push her to get back to him. She wanted to forgive him for everything and she needed to change her ways. So without hesitation, she went to the mall the following day thinking the guy was working back in the same department. And she was right, she found him there assisting some customers fitting the shoes. When he saw her, he was very surprised and unable to look straight into her eyes. It was an awkward and uneasy moment for both of them after all that time. Finally there were able to talk. The guy asked permission form his boss, who was the rich girl's former classmate, to be excused for awhile and they found a space at the corner of the mall. They asked about each other's health and he asked her forgiveness. He confessed that he had already moved on, that he was seeing another girl who was working in another mall and he was already in love. The rich girl cried in front of him, pleading him to come back to her life. She swore she was already a changed woman - no longer domineering, no longer overbearing. She needed a second chance and would love him more than ever. But he refused. He said he was very happy with his life now and was planning to marry the other girl. And he felt sorry for her, and all he could do was to wish her happiness too, that she could find the one man who was truly meant for her. So they parted ways, saying goodbye to each other and closing the relationship that very moment. She was very sad for days and weeks and even went on for months. She lost some weight because she was really depressed. She realized then that her money, her intelligence, her wealth were never enough to be loved by him. She could do nothing more but to move on. And that's the end of the story.
