It was the 42nd annual Grammy awards
held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on February 23, 2000. Carlos Santana was the main winner with 8 awards and Christina Aguilera as Best New Artist, etc. There were amazing performances by top artists as usual on the show, but the highlight of the evening was when Jennifer Lopez came out with David Duchovny on the stage to present the award for Best R&B album and said to the audience at that very moment "This is the first time in five or six years that I'm sure that nobody is looking at me" and generating laughter from the audience and Jennifer Lopez as well. What was that Versace dress in the first place? FYI, it was designed by Donatella Versace, and has been described as "jungle green", "sea green" or "tropical" green, a green dress with touches of blue to give an exotic appearance. It is a see-through silk chiffon dress with a tropical leaf and bamboo pattern, with a citrine-studded crotch. The dress "had a low-cut neck that extended several inches below her navel, where it was loosely fastened with a sparkly brooch and then opened out again," exposing her midriff and then cut along the front of the legs like a bath robe. The dress then drooped behind her on the floor, open at the back. Under the suit, Lopez wore a pair of nude-tone shorts and only afterwards it was revealed that Lopez was able to keep the dress on using double-sided tape. (Courtesy from Wikipedia) Following the award show, the dress received enormous media coverage around the world and people wanted to know more about it. And then this led to the creation of Google Images search realizing that an image search was required to answer the most popular search query to date: the green Versace dress Jennifer Lopez wore on the Grammy Awards 2000.
