There was something unexpected going on
while riding a ferry boat from Cebu City to the nearby Mactan Island - every passenger young and old was wearing a life jacket!
Typhoon Hanna (Soudelor) is already
inside the Philippine Area Of Responsibility that's why the weather is really bad. The city is experiencing strong winds and the waves in the sea are higher than normal. Ferry travel is still permitted but passengers are required to wear life jackets the whole time. First time to wear this life-saver and it's very light as if there's nothing on me. But I trust this can lift my whole weight up and make me float in the sea.
The super typhoon
is not making landfall anywhere in the country but still is causing floods in some areas. Fortunately, the local government of the city is doing this disaster-preparedness type of thing and it feels safe in the sea. This is a good thing to do in dealing with looming disasters or calamities. Times have changed a lot and it's for the better when it comes to technology but it's for the worse when it comes to weather. Super typhoons are becoming common and no one can forget that super typhoon Yolanda which hit Tacloban City and many other places and caused unthink-of destruction and loss of lives. Climate change and global warming are to blame and humans are to blame for climate change and global warming. It all comes down to us humans. We caused it all. We've been destroying nature ever since so nature is coming back to us with a vengeance.
