In this day and age,
what things give happiness and contentment? Is it money or career? Or does it depend on how much of these that you have?
There are quiet a number of people
who are rich beyond measure that they are sporting the most luxurious lives possible. They own prime estates, private jets and vast resources that they can literally be lazy for the rest of their lives without having to worry about anything for they will never run out of money. They just spend on anything very expensive and still have a huge reserve of their wealth. And they are very happy and very contented. Others have successful careers and on top of everybody else in a company. They are bosses and they dominate thousands of people below them. They receive very fat checks every time and are living very comfortable lifestyles. And they are very happy, very contented and very proud of what they have become. Truly, having much money and being in high positions make for happiness and contentment for most. But the big question is: will they still be happy and contented when money runs out, and when high positions go down? Most definitely, not! Since the day of our birth up to old age, we have been molded at home or in school to work hard for a living so that the future will not be hard on us. And as much as we can, get a high-paying job or start a business so money can never be a problem. It's like we live just for the money and nothing else! And when things don't go according to plan, we find ourselves feeling miserable and unhappy, feeling unaccomplished and unfulfilled. It's like we haven't achieved anything at all because we have less money or we are ordinary workers and not bosses. Then we look at ourselves as failures when our dreams of becoming rich and successful don't come true. This is so wrong! We all have to unforget (remember) that we can't all be rich and successful as we want to be. We have various places in life that we have to accept, or simply we have different roles to portray on earth. There are those who become ultra rich or super rich, and those who are plain rich. There are those who just have enough to live on, and those that are having hard times trying to make ends meet.
Not everyone can be super rich,
not everyone can be plainly rich, and not everyone can be struggling or poor. But wherever we are, there are plenty of rooms to be happy and contented. This may sound impossible especially for those of us who are below everyone else, those who are having to work extra hours just to survive a day. But it is possible to be happy and contented with the little things we have! All we have to do is to change our way of seeing life the way our home and school instilled in our minds. We have to do away with always working hard for the money and riches and high positions and being bosses. There is so much more to this life than money! When we have a totally whole, caring and loving family around is more than enough to be happy. A remarkable number of friends adds so much too. Having good health is a plus and when you don't have grudges with anyone giving you peace of mind free from troubles, then happiness and contentment will always be around you. We don't have to own a mall or be president and CEO of a company to be truly happy and contented. We don't have to be above everyone else. We have to think about this: when we have little money but we know that it comes from a decent, legal job and we have paid the right taxes, then that's enough to be happy and contented with and even be proud about. And when we are just ordinary workers getting paid regular wages, but we know we do our jobs well and contribute to the prosperity of the company, and we pay our taxes up to the last cent, then we have to be happy and contented and even celebrate for doing a good job. When you are happy and contented because you're rich and you're living comfortably, are you having something extraordinary? Of course not! But when you're happy and contented even with the little you have, then that's something extraordinary! Only very few people see life like that and that's something pleasing to God.
