Parish Priest Of Our Lady Of Miraculous Medal
in Biñan, Laguna
received some criticisms after his stunt
near the end of his 11:00 PM mass
on December 24, 2015.
when nearing the end,
just right before the final blessing
of the Christmas Eve mass,
he sang a Christmas song
while riding a hoverboard.
The priest said he did not do it
during his homily
and called it new evangelization.
People who attended his mass
didn't think anything wrong
with what he did.
Some even found it cool
but the Diocese Of San Pablo, Laguna
issued a statement that it was wrong
for him to do such a thing
stating that the Eucharist
is the Church's highest form of worship.
“The Eucharist demands utmost respect and reverence.
It is the Memorial of the Lord’s Sacrifice.
It is the source and summit of Christian life,”
“Consequently,
it is not a personal celebration
where one can capriciously introduce something
to get the attention of the people.”
Father Albert San Jose apologized for his mistake
and promised not to do it again.
And he will be out of the parish for a while
to reflect on what happened.
I, too personally found it extremely inappropriate
and highly irreverent and disrespectful
especially coming from somebody ordained
to uphold the Sanctity Of The Ritual
or the Holiness Of The Mass.
And never at any time during the Holy Mass
should be used for entertainment or amusement.
All throughout should be for meditation,
reflection, prayer, praise, worship,
thanksgiving and the like.
