Some people do feel very comfortable
inside the church
that they sleep in the chairs
unmindful of what others might think.
They feel so at home
that they just lean back and close their eyes
and take a dose of sleep
and forgetting all throughout
that the church is not a park or your house,
but a Holy Place for meditation and prayers.
A church is never somebody's home
but God's Temple
which commands utmost reverence.
And reverence means acknowledging
the church as a Holy Place,
praying with humble hearts
and never doing anything that disgraces.
Sleeping inside the church
is much like wearing informal clothing
or revealing outfits,
bringing food and drinks along
and chatting with friends
instead of being quiet reflecting and praying.
It's a sin not to go to church
and attend masses
for it's refusing to do your purpose
to praise, worship and give thanks to God
but it would be sinning so much more
when you sleep in the bench.
That photo was taken early in the morning
right before the 1st Holy Mass at 6:00 AM.
The guy could be a visitor from nearby city or town
and decided to spend some time in church
because establishments were still close.
He must have been tired from long hours of travel
so took a dose of sleep.
whatever reason you have to sleep in church
is so much disrespect and irreverence.
You could have stayed outside
where there were benches
but you chose to sleep inside.
No excuse for doing that.
People just naturally do silly, stupid things
that are so out of place.
Even some guards inside the church
drank coffee during Holy Mass.
Some girls and women showed a lot of skin
which distracted devotees
and others just wore shorts and slippers
or anything else improper
as if they are right at home.
I don't know if they ever realized
what they were doing
or they just didn't care at all.
But we have to bear in mind all the time
that the Church is a Holy Place,
the only place in town or in the city
where we can directly communicate with God
and nowhere else
that's why we built it
separate from our homes.
