A 6.9 magnitude earthquake shook Myanmar
on Wednesday night of April 13, 2016 ​and was felt in parts of India and Bangladesh. ​According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS.Gov) the epicenter of the earthquake is located some 500 km to the northeast of the Sunda Trench, where lithosphere of the India plate begins subducting to the northeast beneath Sunda and Eurasia. It was 74.0 km SE of Mawlaik, Burma 103.0 km NW of Shwebo, Burma 115.0 km NNW of Monywa, Burma 165.0 km W of Mogok, Burma 396.0 km NNW of Nay Pyi Taw, Burma.
