The El Niño phenomenon is likely killing cockroaches
for they are coming out from dark places dead
or simply fall from the ceiling.
Weather these days is very hot and very uncomfortable
that even if you just stay home,
you can feel the unusual heat around.
Electric fans offers little help to cool you
and only air conditioning satisfies but costs you more.
It's much worse going outside,
you can barely walk a few yards under the sun.
Nobody likes cockroaches
and just the thought of them makes you run away.
They're gross, and when you see one around
you immediately get a stick or something hard
to strike it against the wall.
But seeing many them dried up or dying in no time
softens my heart a lot.
I blame the hot, unforgiving weather.
I feel like my disgust for cockroaches diminishes significantly.
Cockroaches don't usually die in numbers at my apartment unit
but this time, they do.
My unit consists of two floors
and the ground floor is the cooler one
but still cockroaches are dying at the ground floor.
It just means it's really unforgivingly hot.
I feel for them even though I'm disgusted.
I used to kill them right away but now I don't have to
because the heat during the day does it.
