was attacked by a mountain lion on Feb. 4, 2019
when he was trail running at Horsetooth Mountain Open Space.
The animal followed him from behind
but fortunately he was able to face it before it lunged at him
and then his brave and courageous story began.
Watch it and listen.
and that he never lost his nerve to fight back the animal.
Here in the Philippines,
we don't have lions, bears, tigers or any other wild animals
that could harm us.
We could easily jog or run in the mountains
without fear of those big cats.
Snakes maybe but they don't usually appear on trails
and they usually go away when they hear some humans.
But one animal that we should be aware about
everytime we jog or run or even walk anywhere
is the dog.
There are lots of stray dogs in the country
whether in the city or the countryside.
They could lunge at you anytime in front of you or behind,
and could give you serious cuts or wounds
and they're carrying deadly rabies.
Most of them are used to seeing and mingling with humans
but once you run or jog around,
they could be intimated that's when they bite.
So when you do some jogging or running around,
be sure not to put on headphones or ear buds
so that you hear all the sounds around you
and be aware of any animals in the area.
And be sure to keep company
or bring along your family or friends with you
so that more will be aware of anything around you.
Headphones and earbuds too silence the sounds
coming from vehicles that might be in your path
and you could end up in an accident.
