and a great way to remind
to stay safe and secure
during fires at all times.
we celebrate fire prevention month
during March
and this year 2018
the theme is
"Ligtas na Pilipinas ang ating hangad,
pag-iingat sa sunog
ay sa sarili ipatupad."
In other words,
Our goal is to stay safe,
and preventing fires begins in one's self
with a reminder from
the Bureau Of Fire Protection
"Sa iyong kapabayaan
madalas nagmumula
and iyong kapahamakan"
or your carelessness
will cause you harm.
Fire can spring up anywhere:
at home, in school,
at work, at the malls
and in structures or buildings.
So always be reminded
to take the necessary steps
to prevent fires
and to stay safe in case of fires.
Especially these days
when the weather is very hot,
fires can burn more.
Have a safe home
by checking all electrical wires
for broken parts
once in a while
so you can replace them immediately.
Unplug all appliances
when you're not using them for too long
and especially when you leave the house.
Check on your gadgets and devices
from time to time
when you're charging
because they might explode
when charged for too long
like what happened to cellphones
in the news reports.
Check also on the gas
you're using in your kitchen for leaks
so you can replace right away
the hose or the regulator
or the other parts
that cause the gas leak.
And if you have children around,
keep them away from matches
or anything else they can play with
that may cause fire.
Always know the exit points
whether you're at home,
at work, in school, in the malls
or inside buildings or structures
so you can escape safe and unharmed
in case of fire.
you should know
during fire situations.
Fire burns anything easily
in a matter of seconds
and the drier that thing is,
the easier it burns.
In this case,
get water immediately
to extinguish the flames
or use fire extinguisher if you have.
But along with fire,
the smoke around you
is the one to watch out for.
It's very cruel and unforgiving.
It catches you even when
you're far from the fire
and it spreads out more quickly.
It doesn't let you breathe,
and if you try to,
you will suffocate in seconds.
It doesn't even let you open your eyes,
because if you do,
you'll be crying as if some thorns
are pricking them.
You have to go away from the area
as fast as you can
or else,
you'll be holding your breath
while groping around
trying to find your way out.
Authorities always remind people
not to panic
but in actual fire situations,
it's impossible not to.
You can't calm down
and you always run around
trying to gather things
and take them somewhere away from the fire
as fast as you can.
That's why
always be careful around the house
or anywhere else
to prevent fires.
As some people say,
it's better to be robbed
than to lose everything during fire.
