Authorities always tell people
to stay calm during fire and not to panic. But this is not practical and it's impossible.
March is fire prevention month
and reminders and tips are always there telling people how to prevent fires and what to do during fire alarms. Checking electrical wirings regularly, unplugging devices before going out of the house, checking the stove if there are leaks, etc. are very basic in preventing fires. And in case of fire, staying calm the whole time sounds pretty good advice for you can think easily of ways to escape fires when you are calm. But being calm during fire alarms is not possible at all no matter how hard you try. Fire easily gets bigger and bigger in just few seconds especially when the house or structure is made of light materials.
The thought of getting burns alone
makes you lose your nerves but it's not the fire that makes the bigger problem. Believe it or not, it's the smoke. Smoke gets in your eyes easily even when you're yards away from fire and when it does, all you do is close them and grope around like a blind man to find your way out. Besides that, smoke won't let you breathe, and it will choke you. That's why smoke plays the bigger role why people panic during fires and not the fire itself. Smoke even gets through walls and into other houses or structures nearby. And it spreads far wider getting into people's eyes and choking them in no time. Everyone will be panic-stricken and immediately go as far away from the smoke as possible. This is why a lot of things around the house like furnitures and fixtures are not saved and just burned to ashes because it's hard to get around through smoke. And in the end, there will be so much damage. The best thing to deal with fire is always to prevent it from happening.
