The picture shows a weasel, which is a small carnivore with a long, slender body and feeding chiefly on small rodents, riding on the back of a European green woodpecker. It's likely that the weasel tried to attack the bird when it was about to fly but somehow ended up on the bird's back when things gone awry. And fortunately, Martin Le-May happened to be there that very moment to document this very rare event. The bird was flying low obviously because of the unexpected load on its back. Thankfully, the bird escaped the attack and Martin's presence may have saved it. Even though weasels are tiny predators, they are known to prey on animals larger than itself like birds and rabbits and in this case the woodpecker. It's a well-timed event that this photo was shot. And the whole world feasts on the image since then. Debate arises on social media as to whether the photo is real or not. And the thing is, it is all real and photographed by Martin Le-May who happens to be an amateur photographer. And now, all the professional photographers out there are full of envy.
